Services for Harold Dean Gray, 72, of Wilson, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.
Harold Dean Gray, was born in Wilson, on July 17, 1952, to the late Mr. Oscar Lee “O.L.” Gray, Jr. and Mrs. Maxine Edna Goldie Lou (Hacker) Gray. Harold passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 4, 2025, near his cherished home place in Wilson.
A proud alumnus of Wilson High School, Harold graduated with the class of 1970. During his high school years, he demonstrated an unwavering work ethic, taking on the responsibility of assisting his father at the local Phillips 66 station. His commitment to education led him to further study at Murray State College, followed by Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he enhanced his knowledge and skills. In 1974, Harold began a significant tenure at ARCO, dedicating himself to the company until his retirement in 1992. He continued to honor his father's legacy by owning and operating his own farm and ranch, specializing as a peanut farmer. He earned the esteemed Best Peanut Crop award in the county and was a member of the Southern Oklahoma Peanut Growers Association. Beyond his professional achievements, Harold was known for his gentle demeanor, keen intelligence, and kind heart. He was a man who found joy in many different things in life. If you knew him, you knew that he had every back road in Southern Oklahoma memorized. He loved driving those roads- even if it meant being on the wrong side at times and moving slower than watching crops grow on a summer day. Harold had a love for dancing, and you never knew when he might get a wild hair and decide it was time for a night out on the dance floor. More than anything, he enjoyed good food, and to this day, his family still isn’t sure where he managed to store it all. Harold loved watching western movies, and it didn’t matter who you were- you better not change the channel. But what he enjoyed most was farming, being with his family, and making memories that will last a lifetime with those who loved him. Harold had an ornery personality, one that might have been passed down through a few generations.
Preceding him in death are his parents, O.L. and Maxine Gray; infant sister, Goldie Lou Gray; daughter, Dawn Gray Clayburn.
