Harley Evans Meloy

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Harley Evans Meloy, 75, of Wilson is scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday August 31, 2011 at the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church with Grandson Rev. Joshua Gunter and Pastor John Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Mr. Harley Meloy was born May 2, 1936 at Snomac, OK to the late Mr. John Emory Meloy and Mrs. Versal Eunice (Goodwin) Meloy. He departed this life Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his home in Wilson.

Harley was raised at Wolf, Ok attending and graduating High School there. He married the former Ms. Betty Louise Hilton on June 3, 1955 at Bowlegs, OK. Harley worked the majority of his working career in the oilfield. He retired from MapCo Oilfield Services in 1982 and then operated his own well servicing business named “M & S Well Servicing” until 1987. He then began employment for Michelin Tire Mfg. in Ardmore not retiring from there until 1998.

Harley was always an avid sports fan who loved baseball. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball in the early 70’s. Harley leaves behind a memory of a simple man of unwavering faith and love for his God and Family. He never encountered another individual without mentioning his faith and love for his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church.

Preceding him in death is his infant Son Tommy Wayne Meloy; His Parents, Mr. John and Mrs. Versal Meloy; Brothers, Gene Meloy and Elmo “Bunk” Meloy; 3 Sisters, Vivian Yirsa, Johnnie Corsaut and Wanda Melton.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; 3 Sons, Mickey Meloy and wife Melanie of Wilson, Johnny Meloy and wife Joanna of Wilson, and Jerry Meloy of Ardmore; 6 Daughters, Cathy Lee of Lone Grove, Carolyn Gunter and husband James of Wilson, Sherry Cargal of Ardmore, Janice Bond of Wilson, Tammy Vandeventer and husband Alan of Wilson, and Barbara Ross and husband Tom of Stuart; 15 Grandchildren, Brian Meloy, Jeff Lee and wife Shelly, Steve Lee, Beckie Spradling and husband Tommy, Shiloh Roberts and husband Jadie, Danny Lee and wife Ashleigh, Jennifer Lee, Kristen Cargal, Caleb Gunter, Joshua Gunter, Ryan Cargal, Brian Bond, Kelsey Ross, Russell Vandeventer and Tanner Ross; 5 Great Grandchildren, Karli Lee, Jaxon Lee, Braxton Lee, Landri Lee and Brileigh Meloy; Brother and best friend, Curtis Meloy and wife Cherry of Hennessey; Sister Glenda Coonfield and husband Paul of Amarillo, TX.; Numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be grandsons; Brian Meloy, Jeff Lee, Steve Lee, Danny Lee, Ryan Cargal, and Brian Bond.

Honorary Bearers will be Caleb Gunter, Joshua Gunter, Russell Vandeventer and Tanner Ross.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
