Gordon Leon Gunter

Ardmore – No Services are scheduled for Mr. Gordon “Butch” Leon Gunter, 68, who died Thursday evening, November 10, 2011 at the Ardmore Veterans Center. Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson are in charge of arrangements.

Butch was born April 3, 1943 at Filmore, CA to the late Mr. Delbert Roland Gunter and Mrs. Pearl (Smith) Gunter. He was raised in the Ardmore area and later worked most of his working years at Dallas and Texarkana, TX as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He joined the United States Army in 1960 and served two tours in Vietnam as a Sgt Combat Infantryman. He received his honorable discharge after 8 years of service to his country and then served 4 years in civil service.

Butch enjoyed the outdoors on his house boat at Lake Gleason, Ark which is near DeQueen and also enjoyed riding his Heritage Softail Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Sisters; Billie Virginia Britt, Laura Joy Pace, Sandra Kay Crump; Brothers; Delbert Monroe Gunter; Step Brother, Joe Frank Smith; Son, Gordon Cody Gunter.

Survivors include his Sisters, Georgia Pearline Sadler of Ft. Townsen, OK, Bobbie Ladell Walker of Hugo, and Judy Grider of Ardmore; Brother, Charles Dewayne Gunter of Ardmore; Two Grandchildren, Raven Tiffany Gunter and Logan Gunter. Numerous other family and friends.
