Velma - Graveside Rites for Mr. Glenn Earl Robison, 84, of Velma are scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Claud Cemetery with Michael Ward officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Glenn was born March 20, 1931 at Groom, TX to the late Mr. Glenn Robison and Mrs. Rosa Belle (Wadlow) Robison. He departed this life Monday March 7, 2016 at his home in Velma.
Glenn was raised mostly at Clemscott, however he attended most of his school years at New London, TX. At the age of 17, Glenn had a shop in the Clemscott area re-tipping drill bits as a welder. He welded most of his working years and was considered to be one of the best. He entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War and served honorably for 3 years, active duty as an aircraft engine mechanic. He received his honorable discharge on June 23, 1954.
He married the former Ms. Lavon Brobst on April 14, 1961 at Fritch, TX. They lived at several communities in Oklahoma and Texas before settling in this area near Claud. There they resided for 23 years on Base Line Rd. After, Glenn retired he and Lavon decided to travel extensively in their RV. They visited many wonderful parts of the country before moving back home at Velma in October of 2000.
Glenn was accomplished musician playing the 6 string bass. He could play many different instruments and always enjoying making music. He was also a very good carpenter having an ability to make anything with his hands. Glenn was a member of the Velma Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death is his Parents; sisters, Laura Gillum and Betty Acox; and 3 brothers, L.E. "Bud" Echols, Dale Robison and Randle Robison.
Survivors include wife Lavon of the Home; son, Jerry Robison of Enid; grandson, Connor Robison of Shattuck;brother, B.P. " Skeeter" Echols of Vernon, TX; sister, Sylvia Dobbs of Comanche; brothers in law, Floyd Brobst of Pauls Valley and Vernon Brobst of Velma; sister in law, Barbara McHendry of Fairmont; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and fellow musicians.
