Wilson ~ Funeral Services for Mrs. Glenda Sue (Ferguson) Stearns, 65, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Jason Williams and Gary Scott Labeth officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Glenda was born November 12, 1948 at Wilson to the late Mr. Joe Jefferson and Mrs. Jimmie Lee (Thomas) Ferguson. She departed this life Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Oklahoma City.
Glenda was raised in this area attending school at Rexroat until its closing when she then attended school at Wilson. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1967 and soon married Mr. Larry Don Stearns. They were united in marriage on June 3rd of 1967 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson by Rev. Taylor. They initially made their home in Amarillo following Larry’s Military service and moved back permanently to Wilson in 1970. Glenda worked in the Wilson School cafeteria for 27 years retiring as the Cafeteria Manger in June of 2011. She enjoyed her job very much and always knew all the kids by name. She also enjoyed travelling, visiting Branson and watching the shows and also enjoyed visiting the beach. She joined the First Baptist Church of Wilson when she was 16 years old and through her many years of attendance had taught Sunday School and helped with Falls Creek Christian Camp.
Preceding her in death were her Parents, Mr. Joe and Mrs Jimmie (Thomas) Ferguson and an infant baby brother.
Survivors include her loving husband Larry Don of the home; Daughter, Kim Babcock and husband Shane of Washington; Sons, Jeff Stearns and wife Jennifer and Kevin Stearns and wife Rhonda, all of Wilson; Sister, Karen Hope and husband Jerry of Healdton; Grandchildren, Joey and wife Jessi, Brookelyn, Payton, Mollie, Ashlee, Lane, Kade and Brittnee; 2 Great Grandchildren Maddex and Braxton; Her nieces Kelly and Tina; A special cousin Paulette Bates ; numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Mike Sudderth, Connor Davis, Jace Dickson, Jason Roberts, Travis Bates and Jason Bates.
Honorary Bearers Jesse Herrell, Joshua Dickson, Ronnie Roberts, Jeff Davis, Michael Dickson and Young Mens Group of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.
Family visitation will be from 6pm to 8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home of Wilson.
