Glen Ray Buck

April 13, 1934 — August 9, 2024

Wilson

Glen Ray Buck, cherished soul of Wilson Oklahoma, peacefully departed this world on August 9, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy woven into the very fabric of his community. Born on April 13, 1934, in quaint backdrop of Bonita, Texas, Glen's life journey began as the fourth of ten children in the nurturing household of Raymond Foster Buck and Winnie Combs Buck. At just nine years old, Glen's family settled in Wilson, a town he would call home for the rest of his remarkable life.

A devoted husband, Glen united in marriage with Betty Jo Roberts in 1956, embarking on a beautiful partnership that blessed them with four wonderful children: Alan, Coly, Kelly, and Bonnie. Later in life, he enjoyed many joyful years with Judy Ann, cherishing the companionship until her passing.

Glen’s life was rich with diverse experiences in the workforce—skilled and dedicated, he was a surveyor for the Soil Conservation Service, where his steadfast hands helped to shape the land, participating in the construction of flood control lakes that would protect the community he loved. His mastery extended to cement work, leaving his mark on Mountain View Mall, while his adventures in the oilfield as a roughneck and roustabout showcased his tenacity and resilience. One of the most heartwarming moments of his life came when he assisted his son Alan in building a lake in Chandler, culminating in a special baptism surrounded by his beloved children and grandchildren.

Deeply rooted in agriculture, Glen found unending joy in the art of planting and harvesting. His garden was not merely a collection of fruits and vegetables; it was a sanctuary where he cultivated love and knowledge. Glen thrived on sharing his wisdom over warm cups of coffee at local gatherings, where stories flowed as freely as the coffee itself. His daily visits to the Wilson Senior Citizens Center transformed routines into cherished moments filled with laughter and connection.

Glen leaves behind a loving family: sons Alan (and wife Janie) and Coly (and wife Tina); eight adoring grandchildren—Brandy, Holly, Joseph, Luke, Levi, Justin, Kendra, and Jordan; along with twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brother Don and sisters Bettie Brinkerhoff and Anna Hickman, along with treasured in-laws, Lynn Adams and Suzi Buck; and an abundance of nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

He now joins those who preceded him in eternal rest: his beloved wife Betty Jo, treasured children Kelly and Bonnie, granddaughter Tiffany, companion Judy Ann, and his dear parents,  sister and brother in law, Verna and Lindell O'Neal; brother and sister in law, Harold and Nona Buck; sister, Billie Buck; sister and brother in law, Linda and Mignon Williams; brother, Dale Buck; sister, Mary Adams; sister in law, Jeanie Buck; and a brother in law, Ken Hickman.

As we mourn his absence, we celebrate the rich seeds Glen planted in the hearts of his family and friends. As you drink that cup of coffee, morning, afternoon, or all day as Glen did, remember to plant your seeds not only in the ground but in the hearts of others around you.

A memorial service honoring Glen Buck will take place at the Ash Street Church of Christ in Wilson, Oklahoma, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests donations be made to the Wilson Senior Citizens Center at 1165 7th Street, Wilson, OK 73463.

Though he may be gone, Glen’s spirit will forever bloom in the memories and hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
