Velma - Graveside services for Mrs. Gladys Marie (Martin) Carroll, 92 are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at New Velma Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Higle officiating. Service are under the care and direction of Alexander-Gray Chapel in Velma.
Gladys was born October 25, 1925 in Walters, OK to the late Mr. James Thomas Martin and Mrs. Bethel Beatrice (Atteberry) Martin. She passed from this life on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Marlow, OK.
Gladys was raised in the Walters and Comanche areas, graduating from Comanche High School. Gladys married the late Mr. David Earl Carroll on February 14, 1942 at Weaver Chapel. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1978. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone knew her as "MeeMaw". Gladys enjoyed reading, sewing and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a long time member of Velma Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, RJ Martin, Hansen Martin, Ed Martin, Jimmy Martin, Howard Martin and Delbert Martin; sisters, Tommie Whitehead, Mayme McMasters, Eunice Ezell, Oma Courtwright and Shirley Foster; son in law, Clinton Auld and grandson in law, Basile Kolliopoulos.
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Sue Auld of Seattle, WA and Tricia Firestone and husband Tom of Velma; grandchildren, Heather Kolliopoulos of Oklahoma City, Chad Firestone of Eufala, Amber Auld of Seattle, WA, Amy Dunn and husband Eddie of Velma and Dustin Firestone and wife Anna of Igualada, Spain; great grandchildren, Tyler Auld of Stillwater, Abby, Justin, Bailey and Jacob Dunn of Velma and Matthew and Olivia Firestone of Igualada, Spain; sisters, Loma Armstrong of Mustang and Eloise Smith of Duncan; all the staff at Marlow Manor who all became her second family and by other family and friends.
A family visitation is scheduled for Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Chapel.
