Wilson - A gathering is planned in memory of Mrs. Dean Williams, 87, from 1:00pm – 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Wilson.
Dean was born March 3, 1924 at Dillard, Ok to the late Mr. Frank McMillan Smith and Mrs. Virgie (Gordon) Smith. She departed this life Monday, March 14, 2011 at Ardmore.
Dean attended grade school at Ambrose Ward and then at Wilson High School, graduating in 1942. Upon graduation, she soon joined the World War II effort as a “Rosie Riveter”, working in Oklahoma City. While she was there, she met and soon married Mr. Fred Williams, July 22, 1945 at Gainesville, TX. They made their home in Wilson where Dean was employed all of her working years as a cook, first for the nursing home and later for Wilson Public Schools, from which she retired from in 1986. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilson for 70 years.
Preceding her in death are her Parents, Husband Fred, July 10, 1989 and a brother, F.M. Smith.
Survivors include her Daughter, Linda (Williams) Griffin and husband Gene of Wilson; Son, Freddie Lynn Williams of Wilson; Grandchildren, Reg and Liz Griffin, and James Williams; Great Grandchildren, Janelle and Sarah Griffin; Daughter in law, Melissa Williams of Wilson; 3 Sisters, Hazel Gilstrap of Ardmore, Fran Bachman and husband Bobby of Moore, Barb Williams and husband Duane of Phoenix, AZ; Nephew, Dick Couch and wife Sandra of Norman. Numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund; P.O. Box 235/ Wilson, OK 73463.
