George "Elmer" Jones

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. George “Elmer” Jones, 83 of Cheek, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with the Rev. Darryl Howard and Bro. Wayne Howard officiating.

Elmer was born April 21, 1935 to the late Mr. George Valton Jones and Mrs. Mildred Kathryn (Martin) Jones at Lone Grove. He departed from this life on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home in Cheek.

Elmer was born and raised in the Lone Grove and Cheek area, graduating from Lone Grove High School in 1954. He married the former Ms. Patsy Justice on August 12, 1955 at Ardmore. Elmer spent most of his working years employed as a Mechanic and a Truck Driver and was even a Transportation Manager for Bluebonnet for some time. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and spending time at the dirt track races with his wife.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy on November 3, 2017; parents, George and Mildred Jones; brother, Harvey Jones; sisters, Louise Patton and Mary Patton; granddaughter, Alicia Joy.

Elmer is survived by his sons, Allen Jones and wife Donna of Van Buren, Arkansas, David Jones and wife Coy, Ronald Jones and wife Laura, Marty Jones and wife Barbara all of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Allen Ray, Sonia, Stacey, Michael, Patrick, Chris, Kimberly, Cody, Jennifer, Matthew, Crystal, and Michael; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Mildred “Skeeter” Varnaclore and husband Don of Pensacola, Flordia; numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Moyers, Cody Jones, Patrick Jones, Matthew Jones, Allen Ray Jones, and Chris Jones.

Honorary bearers are Jody Cornelison, and his sons, Allen David, Ronald, and Marty.

A family visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
