Healdton – Graveside services for Gary Lee Watson, 74, of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. April 9, 2025, at Hewitt cemetery in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
Gary Watson, born on December 27, 1950, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to the late Clifton Augustus Watson and Clara Mae (Loard) Watson, passed away peacefully at his home in Healdton on April 5, 2025.
Gary spent his formative years in Wilson until the loss of his mother, after which he moved with his sister, Barbara, to Healdton, where he graduated from high school in 1969. He began his professional journey as a truck driver and insurance adjuster before discovering his true calling as a police officer. His distinguished career in law enforcement included roles as a private investigator and esteemed positions within the Healdton Police Department, the Carter County Sheriff's Office, and as an investigator for the Drug Task Force at the District Attorney's office. Gary also served with honor as a State Policeman with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). His profound faith and commitment to "THE church" were cornerstones of his life, reflecting his deep understanding of the Bible.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bob, Joe, and PeeWee Watson, and sister Diana English.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Kay Watson of Healdton; daughter Kayse Smith and husband McKotah, and their son Gage of Healdton; son Nathan Watson and wife Bonnie of Sparta, Missouri, along with their children Jaron, Jeremy, Savannah, Quenton, Faith, Grady, Graham, Nate, and Tabby; son Jason Watson of Phoenix, Arizona, and his children Nicholas and Arabella; sister Barbara Price of Healdton; and special nieces and nephews Toby Price and wife Marla, Kim Price, and Tiffany Case and husband J.D., along with numerous other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Nathan Watson, Jason Watson, McKotah Smith, Marc Sanders, Kenneth Turner and Dale Shaw.
Honorary bearers are Toby Price, J.D. Case, Richard Emberling, Larry Emerson, Clinton Owens and Terry Shaw.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
