Gary Edward Hammons

Funeral Services for Mr. Gary Edward Hammons, 68, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Asphaltum Assembly of God Church of Ringling with Rev. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery of Ringling. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Gary was born February 6, 1945 at Ringling to Mr. Tommy Edward Hammons and Mrs. Audrey V. (McClain) Hammons. He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning September 3, 2013 at Wilson, OK.

Gary was a resident of Ringling most all of his life. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1963 and then went to vocational school for welding. He was a jack of all trades able to do anything he set his mind to. He was an excellent carpenter and mechanic. His nicknames was Goober and McGyver because his mechanic abilities and intuitive ideas on fixing things.

Gary worked as a carpenter for many years and also was employed in the Oilfield as a Driller lastly for L.E. Jones. He loved to hunt and fish spending his entire life on Mud Creek. He fought fighting roosters for several years where he became well known and loved by many. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Ringling.

Preceding him in death is his Father, Tommy and brother, Ronnie Hammons.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Helen of the home; Sons, Dustin Hammons and wife Stephanie of Ringling, and Gary Lynn Hammons of Sherman, TX; Daughter, Tammy Rutledge of Wichita, KS; Mother, Audrey Hammons of Ringling; Brother, Johnny Hammons of Ardmore; Grandchildren, Wes, Tyson, Tuff, Titan, Misty, Lance and Tessa; 2 Great Grandchildren, Ethan and Isabella; Nephews, Ty, Trey and Trent and Niece, Hollie Bates. Numerous other family.

Pallbearers are Johnny Blankenship, Troy Huggins, Virgil Davis, Sam Beams, McLane Rose, Vickie Aulds, Eddie Aulds, Peck Pemberton, John Reid and Ronald Paul.

Family visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Ringling.
