Gary Dean Mcdonald

Gary was born April 15, 1949 at Mannsville, OK to Mr. Sherl McDonald and to the late Mrs. Sadie (Weems) McDonald. He departed this life Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home in Wilson.

Gary was raised in Dickson graduating Dickson High School in 1967. He attended College at Murray State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. On June 18, 1968, Gary married the former Ms. Linda Pogue at the Lake Murray Chapel in Ardmore, OK. They have been residents of Wilson since 1978. Gary worked as a carpenter outside the home. Gary received a calling into the ministry in 1973 and for several years he served as the minister for numerous churches including Brock Baptist Church, Oil City Church, and was with McAlister Indian Baptist Church for over nine years. Gary was also the founding Pastor at the Believers Baptist Church of Ardmore, where he currently was serving. In his spare time Gary loved watching westerns and enjoyed working on lawnmowers.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Sadie McDonald in 1953; Stepmother, Naomi McDonald in 2006; and brother, Sherl Ray McDonald in 1994.

Survivors include his wife Linda (Pogue) McDonald of the home; Father, Sherl McDonald of Dickson; daughter, Deana Edgar and husband Wayne of Norman; 3 sons, Joe McDonald and wife Julie of Ardmore, Jeremy McDonald and wife Brandy of Dickson, and Josh McDonald and wife Latoya of Wilson; Sister, Sharrian Ponder and husband Ray of Dickson; Grandchildren, Madison, Gibbon, Hayden, Rylie Jo, Creed, Zoey, Jack, Josey, Hannah, Aubrey, Jakin,Jack, Callum, Trace, and Zach; numerous other family, church family and a multitude of friends.

Casket Bearers are Joe McDonald, Jeremy McDonald, Josh McDonald, Callum McKinnon, Kenneth McDonald, and Zach Campbell

Honorary bearers are Gibbon Edgar, Hayden Edgar, Creed McDonald, Jakin McDonald, Jack McDonald, Trace McKinnon, Elwood Hattenstye, Earl McDonald Jr., and Beryl McDonald.

Family visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm FridayEvening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
