Ringling - Graveside Services for Mr. Francis Marion Abshire, 83, of Ringling, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ellen Abshire officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Francis Marion Abshire was born August 25, 1932 to the late Mr. Charles Pete Abshire and Mrs. Zetha Mae (Loftin) Abshire. He passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Duncan at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 18 days.

Francis was raised at Healdton graduating from Dundee High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War and became injured and later honorably discharged. Francis married the former Ms. Juanita Rich on June 4, 1965 at Velma. He worked in the oilfield all of his working years. For 20 years Francis was employed by Mack Energy.

Preceding him in death were his Parents; wife, Juanita on February 24, 2009; 3 brothers, Ezra, Charles, and Cecil.

Survivors include his 2 sisters, Wilma Strickland and Rachel Gilmore and husband John all of Duncan; nieces, Lana Carter and husband Dan of Oklahoma City and Becky Jo Schmit and husband Jody of Florida; nephews, Mike Abshire of Oklahoma City, Ronnie Abshire and wife Karen of Duncan, Dennis Abshire of Comanche, Tom Gilmore and wife Hope of Edmond, and Chuck Gilmore and wife Patty of Wichita Falls, TX; sister in law, Jenny Abshire of Comanche; numerous other great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Honorary Bearers are David Smith, Monte Smith, Bill Smith, and Johnny Roberts.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home at Ringling.
