Francis Babbette Thompson

Wilson – Graveside Services for Mrs. Francis Babbette (Spoon) Thompson, 86, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Reck Cemetery in Wilson with Rev. Dale Tarp officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Babbette was born February 8, 1924 at Indianola, Ok to the late Fred Spoon and Mary Lavinia (Potter) Spoon. She departed this life Saturday, September 18, 2010 at her home in Wilson.

Babbette was raised in Oklahoma. She married Ray Elijah Lane Nov. 17, 1939. They moved to California in 1945 where Babbette worked primarily in the fruit and vegetable industry. She was employed for many years for an Olive Plant in Lindsey, CA. After Ray passed away she remarried Dewey Manard Thompson and they continued to reside in California. She moved to Wilson just two years to be closer to her family.

Preceding her in death were her Parents, 1st Husband Ray, and 2nd Husband Dewey, Children, Bernice, James Ray, Francis and Alice Faye Lane, and also stillborn infant twins, 3 brothers, William, Charlie, her Twin Brother - Bobby and Sisters, Clara, Sylvia and Bertha.

Survivors include her 2 Sisters, Flora Canada of Lone Grove, Anna McGaughy and husband Cliff of Wilson. 3 Brothers, Joseph Edward Spoon of Arlington, TX, Frank Aaron Spoon and wife Nina of Winfield, KS, and Clarence Andrew Spoon and wife Sue of Ardmore. Half Brothers, Gerald Spoon and Ronnie Fred Spoon of Mena, AR. Granddaughter Kellie Brown of London, Canada, and Grandson Mike Brown. Numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jim McGaughy, Vernon Canada, Garvin Canada, Wilbur “Peavine” Canada, Clarence “Bucky” Canada, and Bobby Gene Canada.

Honorary Bearers are Steve Scifres, Ernest McGaughy, Don Tufts, and Clifford McGaughy.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday Evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
