Haskell – Forrest Paul Groover, age 99 years, 9 months and 3 days, went to be the Lord and loved ones gone before him on Thursday, November 26, 2015. He suffered injuries in a car wreck in Ardmore in 2010, and never fully recovered. He died in Lewisville, Texas, where he had been cared for by a wonderful staff at Cornerstone Estates.

Forrest was born in Western Grove, Arkansas, on the 23rd of February 1916, to Russell Paul Groover and Tillie Pearl Dees Groover, the third of 7 children. He married Marie Katherine Damme, youngest daughter of Louis Damme and Minnie Becker Damme, in Haskell, OK on March 27, 1937.

After losing a job with Mid-Continent Oil Company near Okmulgee, OK, in 1939, Forrest found work with Magnolia Oil Company in Illinois in 1940. During World War II he worked as a roustabout, pumper, and land scout. The company changed its name to the Mobil Oil Company and Forrest worked for them 41 years, first in Illinois, then Texas, and finally in Oklahoma. After he retired in 1981, he and Marie built a home in Lewisville, Texas. Marie died of cancer August 21, 1984, in Denton, Texas. Also preceding Forrest in death were his parents; siblings, Flossie Groover Moore, Fama Groover Cook, James Groover, Fannie Groover Garrison, and Fay W. (Willie) Groover. On December 5, 1987, Forrest married Mary E West Beamer in Velma, OK.

Survivors include his second wife Mary of Ardmore, OK; son, Paul Groover and wife Lynn of Heathsville, VA and their sons Russ Groover of Hanover, VA and Traigh Groover of Cary, North Carolina; daughter, Barbara Morrison of Savannah, TX and her sons, Mark Morrison of Frisco, TX and Matt Morrison of Providence Village, TX; daughter, Peggy Gentry and husband Bill of Lewisville, TX and their daughters Lisa Gentry Ormsbee of Dallas, TX and Linda Gentry Duebner of Carrollton, TX; 1 brother, Flavy R. Groover of Haskell, OK, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Forrest Paul Groover will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, OK. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson, OK.
