Lone Grove –Funeral Services for Mr. Floyd L. “Mac” McDaniels, 80, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday May 24, 2012 at the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Rev. David Gardner and Rev. Wayne Howard officiating. Interment will follow at the Newport Cemetery with Air Force Military Honors. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Mr. McDaniels was born October 31, 1931 at Amber, Ok to the late Mr. William Edward McDaniels and Mrs. Annie (Rodgers) McDaniels. He departed this life Monday, May 21, 2012 at his home in Lone Grove.
Mr. McDaniels was raised in Amber attending and graduating school there in 1949. He married Ms. Shirley Deloris Keef on December 24, 1951 at Chickasha, OK. Mr. McDaniels joined the United Sates Air Force on January of 1951 at Oklahoma City and served honorably as an Aircraft Technician until his discharge on October 4, 1954.
Mr. McDaniels attended Livestock Buyers School and also worked for two insurance companies as well as American Snuff Company for 12 years. Locally he drove a Milk truck for Cooper Farms and worked at Comet Feeds before hiring on at Uniroyal Tire Manufacturing of Ardmore. There he retired in 1981 due to his health.
Most knew Mr. McDaniels from selling knives at Overbrook Livestock auction and the Sulphur Flea Markets. He loved knives and he loved to trade, but most of all adored his children and grandchildren. He never met as Stranger and enjoyed attending the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove.
Preceding him in death are his Parents, Two Sisters and five Brothers.
Survivors include his Wife Shirley of the home; Children, Mike McDaniels, Nancy Dobbins and husband Dysart, Ronda McDaniels, Kelly McDaniels and wife Michelle, all of Lone Grove; Sister, Katie Hooper of Ardmore; Sisters in Law, Elsie Estes of Tuttle and Darlene Weaver of Alex; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Pallbearers are David Steele, Earl Russell, Mark Harding, Ted Nichols, Don Dixon, and George Pratt.
Honorary Bearer is Floyd Gentry.
Everyone is encouraged to visit the decedent’s home in Lone Grove for support and visitation.
