Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Floy Elverta (Pickens) Simmons, 96, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Cooke and Russell Harris officiating. Interment will follow to Reck Cemetery.
Mrs. Floy Elverta (Pickens) Simmons was born November 13, 1920 to the late Mr. David Andrew Pickens and Mrs. Dovie Bell (Jones) Pickens south of Wilson. She departed from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Corsicana, TX.
Floy was raised at Reck attending school at Post Oak. She married Ray W. Simmons on September 21, 1940 in Wilson.In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Floy managed the Simmon's Farm and Ranch Store at Keller, TX for a number of years, while Ray worked at General Dynamics. Upon retiring, they moved back to the farm, south of Wilson. There, they enjoyed farming and ranching for many years. Floy was a faithful member of the Ash Street Church of Christ Church in Wilson were her husband Ray served as an Elder. She also enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
Ray preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2002. Also preceding her in death was her parents; brothers, Everett Pickens, Eddie Pickens and J.P. Pickens; sisters, Lavada Guy and Geraldine Green; grandson, Danny Lee McPherson; and great grandson, Micah Lynn Harris.
Floy is survived by her daughters, Shirley McPherson and husband Kenneth, Georgia Harris and husband J.D. and Beverly Cooke and husband Tim; brother, Tommy Pickens of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard McPherson, Craig McPherson, David McPherson, Russell Harris, Joe Harris, Scott Harris, Jeff Cooke and Brad Cooke.
