Wilson- Services for Faye Etta (Roberts) Bigbie, 92, of Wilson, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating and grandson, Jacky Grissom providing the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.
Faye was born April 1, 1931, at Orr, OK to the late Mr. William Preston “Honey” Roberts and Mrs. Winnie Odessa (Goldsmith) Roberts. She departed this life Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Ardmore, OK.
Faye was raised at Orr moving to Wilson as a teenager. Her mother passed away at an early age and Faye became a mother to her brother, Sonny. She married Bane Bigbie in 1987, making their home in Ringling. Faye initially worked as a supervisor for Stromberg Carlson and owned and operated “The Outpost” at the Healdton/Wilson Y for many years. She was the most proud of getting to work with children as a Teacher Assistant in Early Childhood Development with Ardmore Public Schools and Sunshine Industries. Faye was a member of the Oklahoma Teachers Association, Wolf Hunters Association, and a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, being initiated in 1968.
Preceding her in death are her parents; grandparents, who helped raise her, Flavious Joe and Gussie Ellen Roberts; husband, Bane Bigbie who passed on November 17, 2011; brother, William H “Sonny Boy” Roberts; sister, Barbara Cochran and son-in-law, Sonny Grissom.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Grissom of Wilson; grandchildren, Lori Gordon and husband Joe of Wilson and Jacky Grissom and Kelly of Georgia; great grandchildren, Sunny Bulla, J.W. Grissom, Makenzie Grissom, and Kourtney Lytle; great great grandchildren, Vesper, Jaxon, Ronin, Scarlette, Memphis, and Mason; stepchildren, Bane Bigbie and wife Melanie, Kathi Trent and husband Randall, Rocky Bigbie and wife Laurie, Stacy Woodruff and husband Jon along with their children and grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Grissom, Brandon Bulla, Jimmy Taylor, Paul Roberts, Larry Roberts, and Donnie Gaines.
Honorary bearers are Audie Roberts, Charlie Steele, Kerry Roberts, Danny Steele, Mike Steele, Earl J. Roberts, Kris Roberts, Bane Bigbie, and Rocky Bigbie.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
