Oil City- Graveside services for Mrs. Evelyn “Judy” Francis (Thompson) Sims, 81, of Oil City are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. June 15, 2021 at the Keller Cemetery with Rev. Paul Dean Martin officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Judy was born to the late Mr. Herman James Evans Thompson and Mrs. Gracie Mae (Godwin) Thompson on July 28, 1939 in Ardmore. She departed this life Thursday, June 10, 2021 at her home in Oil City.
Judy was raised at Oil City attending school at Wheeler and Rexroat. She married Mr. James Sims on May 17, 1958 at Healdton First United Methodist Church. Judy’s husband, James, was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 8 years which gave them residents of numerous places. After his service, the couple moved back to their parents’ home in Oil City. Judy always worked within the home and had been a lifelong member of the Oil City Union Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Mark sims August 8, 2016 and brother, Stanley Thompson.
Survivors include her husband James of the home; daughter, Connie Burns and husband Stephen of Oil City; grandchildren, Daniel Burns and wife Sabrina, Katie Sullivan and husband Jimmy “Dos”, Meagan Brundage and husband Daniel, and Cheyenne Schumacher and husband Cale; 8 Great Grandchildren; sisters; Lois Quaid and husband Darryl of Ardmore and Joyce Johnson of Ardmore; numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Burns, Daniel Burns, Dillon Burns, Jake Sullivan, Jimmy Sullivan, and Katie Sullivan.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Monday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
