Healdton- Services for Eunice “Ethylene” (Bass) Byrd, 82, of Healdton, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Scott Renfro officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton.
Ethylene was born on October 22, 1940, at Healdton, to the late Mr. William Meredith Bass and Mrs. Edna Estelle (Altom) Bass. She went to her heavenly home Friday, July 21, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.
Ethylene grew up in Healdton where she attended school, graduating with the class of 1959. She then married Mr. Franklin Wyatt Byrd on April 18, 1960, at Healdton. Franklin joined the U.S. Navy soon after so the couple moved around for a while eventually making her way back home to Healdton. Ethylene worked for many years as the manager for Bill’s Dollar Store in Healdton and later was employed by the Healdton Family Center. She became a caregiver for her mother and then again for her husband until his passing on November 30, 2020. Ethylene loved to craft, making jewelry, quilting, crocheting, and many other things. She was so caring, fun-loving, and had so much love for her family. Ethylene was a member of the East Lincoln Church of Christ in Healdton.
Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Edna Bass and her husband, Franklin Byrd.
Survivors include her sons, Tony Byrd of Healdton and Tim Byrd and wife Julie of Herndon, Virginia; brother, Eddy Bass and wife Tina of Ardmore; sister, Vicki Jackson of Ardmore; sister-in-law, Virginia Byrd of Burleson, TX; sister/cousin, Etta Reid of Waurika; six grandchildren, Chris, Kayla, Victoria, Brigid, Lindsay, and Wyatt; five great grandchildren, Stelton, Layla, Ellie, Bracyn, and Wesley; numerous other family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Kristy Leonard, Dwayne Castleberry, Jonathan Altom, Terry Gillum, Tony Wood, and Ronnie Byrd.
Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel at Healdton.
A family meal will be provided by the East Lincoln Church of Christ at noon before services on Thursday.
