Wilson - Funeral Services for longtime resident Mrs. Essie Lucille (Jones) Henley, 97, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Rev. Morgan Ashworth and Bro. Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Essie was born on July 7, 1920 at Ghost Holler to the late Mr. Sid Albert Jones and Mrs. Mary (Horton) Jones. She departed this life on Friday, evening September 29, 2017 at the Wilson Nursing Home.
Essie was raised south of Wilson residing at the community of Ghost Holler. She attended school at Parker Hill and Board Tree. Later, she married Mr. Albert E. Henley on April 16, 1936 at Ardmore. They initially resided in a log cabin that Albert constructed located at Ghost Holler before moving to the Reck area on a farm.
Essie believed in hard work and passed that work ethic to her children. She was a great homemaker and devoted Mother and wife for her family, always providing plenty for everyone. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren. Essie attended the Assembly of God Church of Wilson. Her husband Albert preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1995. Also preceding her in death was her parents; sisters, Rosemae, Wilma, Imogene, Mary and Pauline; brothers, Oscar, Odis, Amos, Namon and Aaron; son in law, Bill Inselman, Jr., son, Charles Henley; granddaughter, Dianna Blansett and Great Grandson, Noah West.
Survivors include her daughters, Lillie Inselman of Wilson and Myrtle Pinson and husband Doyale of Lone Grove; daughter in law, Virginia Henley of Kaufman, TX; 5 grandchildren, Debbie Conley, Becky Smith, Billy Inselman, Jimmy Langford and Sonya Taylor; 14 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren and a very special niece, Evelyn Smith of Reck, whom she loved like a daughter; numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Jimmy Langford, Billy Inselman, Brian Blansett, Terry Smith, Larry Taylor and Ken Conley.
Honorary Bearers are Willy Inselman, Brice Blansett, Tyler Inselman, Brent Jackson, and Chris Smith.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
