Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Essie Elere (Allen) Pruett, 90, longtime resident of this area, are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday January 8, 2011 at the Rexroat Baptist Church with Rev. Monte Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Essie was born September 23, 1920 at Overbrook to the late Mr. John Wyatt Allen and Mrs. Della (Blankenship) Allen. She departed this life Wed. January 5, 2011 at Wilson.

Mrs. Pruett was raised in the Ardmore area attending school at Baum, Marsden and Overbrook. She married the late Mr. Leonard Bradford Pruett March 29, 1941 at Stobtown. They initially resided at Stobtown, then Rexroat, before making their home in Wilson. Essie was a wonderful homemaker and devout mother. She loved to garden and always keep her yard nice. She always had chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and was always an excellent cook. Her husband Leonard preceded her in death on October 7, 1985. After his passing Essie started employment at the Wilson Nursing Home, working in the kitchen for 13 years. She was always involved in church, whether it was cooking at Falls Creek or helping Bible school. She was a longtime member of the Rexroat Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband Leonard, also preceding her in death is her Parents, Granddaughter Jennifer Salsbury in 1997, 3 brothers, Claude, Melvin and Ervin Allen, and sister Ethel Ellis.

Survivors include a Son, Allen Pruett and wife Anna Lee of Bartlesville, Daughters, Betty Salsbury and husband Boyd of Wilson, and Kathy Roberts and husband Gary of The Woodlands, TX. Sister, Marie Watson of Ardmore. Brother, William Allen and wife Doris of Ardmore. Grandchildren, Michael Ann Schrick and husband Chad of Broken Arrow, Allison Pruett of Dallas, Summer Sanders and husband Shawn of Wilson, Boyd Lynn Salsbury and wife Jessica of Chickasha, Geremy Roberts of The Woodlands, TX, and Rebecca Levy and husband Mitch of Spring, TX. 9 Great Grandchildren Noah, Ben, and Caleb Schrick, Mason and Bladen Sanders , Ashlynn, Britton, and Bryce Salsbury and one other “Baby Levy” due in July.

Pallbearers will be Geremy Roberts, Boyd Lynn Salsbury, Chad Schrick, Shawn Sanders, Mitchell Levy, Mason Sanders, Marshall Mitchell, Larry Mitchell, Steve Watson, Bennie Cartwright and David Norton.

Family visitation will be from 6-8pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
