Emmitt Travis Morris

February 17, 1929 — February 8, 2017

Ringling - Remembrance services for longtime Ringling resident, Mr. Emmitt Travis Morris, 87, are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Mike Williams officiating and Robert Griffin assisting. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.


Emmitt was born on February 17, 1929 at Johnston's Corner of Loco, OK to the late Mr. Elijah Leonard Morris and Mrs. Vera Alice (Loyd) Morris. He departed this life Wed. evening on Feb. 8, 2017 at his home in Ringling just 9 days short of his 88th birthday.


Emmitt moved to the settlement of Cornish at an early age where he attended school at Ringling. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1950. Soon after he married the former Ms. Patsy "Pat" Louise Longest on Sept. 3, 1950 at her parents home, Mr. Herman and Mrs. Onie Longest. They shared 66 wonderful years together. To this union they were blessed with four children, Micky, Mark, Matt and Marci.


Emmitt worked as a welder most of his working years and also as a private contractor for several Oilfield Companies, Utility Companies and Ranchers. No job was too big or too small and he always enjoyed an honest days work. Emmitt served the community of Ringling by volunteering as a Ringling Fireman for 20 years. Emmitt always volunteered and committed time to improving the town of Ringling and was a member of the Ringling First Baptist Church.


Preceding him in death are his Parents; infant daughter, Marci Marie; sister, Maxine Ramsey, Lorene Blackburn, Reba Warden, Valois Webb and a brother, Elmer J. Morris;


Survivors include his loving wife Pat of the home; son, Micky Morris and wife Melissa , Mark Morris and wife Cindy and Matt Morris and wife Dawn, all of Ringling; grandchildren, Scotty and wife Kim of Norman, Missy and husband Larry of Ringling, Crystal of Ringling, Hank Jr., Chris and wife Jean of Ratliff City, Emily and husband Martin of Wichita Falls, TX, Aftan and husband Travis of Duncan and Ryan of Ada; great grandchildren, Dylan, Clay, Cole, Brittany, Malloreigh, Brooke and husband Guy, Barrett, Dalton, Gunnar, Joshua, Tylin, Kamrin, Aimery and Adalin; great great grandchildren, Koby, Corey, Avery and Eli; special nieces, Kay Khale and Sharon Chamberlin and numerous special nephews, other family and a multitude of friends.


Casket Bearers are Grandsons; Scott Morris, Chris Morris, Ryan Morris, Dylan Morris, Barrett Morris, Dalton Morris and Gunnar Morris.


Honorary Bearers are Aimery Brady, Josh Valverde, Clay Morris, Cole Morris, Stanley Hudson, Allen Wade and Calvin Wade.


Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
