Wilson - Home Going services for Mrs. Emma Virginia "Emma Jean" (Barbour) Tucker, 93 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Doug Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Emma Jean was born March 6, 1929, at Wilson, OK to the late Mr. J.D. Barbour and Mrs. Mellie Maye (Ferguson) Barbour. She went to her heavenly home Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Wilson.
Emma Jean was raised in Wilson attending Southward and Wilson High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wilson where she was a Sunday School teacher for the beginners and primary classes, worked many Vacation Bible Schools, and was a very active member. She, Mary Francis and Martha Wilson sang for many funerals in Wilson and surrounding area, and many church gatherings. She loved to sing and is now singing with the Heavenly Angels and praising God and clapping hands.
In 1945 she met the love of her life, Calvin Tucker and they were married on June 17, 1947, at Gainesville, TX. They made their home in Wilson raising their 4 beloved children. All four children graduating Wilson High School. She and Calvin were married 33 years when the Lord called him home. Emma worked at Charlie Weeks Cafe, Dudes Dinner, Finleys Cafe, Rector Clinic, Wilson Nursing Home and the Osteopathic Hospital. In 1984 she started driving the Wilson Senior Citizens Bus retiring in 1998. She and her two sons had the Ardmoreite Newspaper route for almost 20 years.
In September of 2001, she moved to the Ardmore Village where she was very active. She served 2 terms as Mayor of the Ardmore Village and 2 terms as the vice mayor. She enjoyed her years there and had many friends. In September of 2013, Emma moved back to Wilson to be closer to her family.
In addition to her husband Calvin, also preceding her in death are her parents; brother and his wife, Bill and Nancy Barbour; brother, Wilbur Barbour; brother-in-law, Stanley Welch and sister-in-law, Syble Tucker.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Janna Davis of Yukon and Carol Wuneburger and husband Tommy of Langley, OK; sons, Patrick Tucker and wife Dorthy of Wilson and Terrel Dee Tucker and wife Tammy all of Wilson; grandchildren, Dusty Davis and Kelly, Brady Davis and wife Dava, Scotty Davis and wife Megan, Brandon Sibley, Alan Tucker and wife Wena, Coy Tucker and wife Amy, Clayton Tucker, Jonathon Tucker, Cambria Cotner, Jennie Tucker, Ami Tucker, and Jennifer Longway; 32 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.; sister, Mona Welch of Sulphur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Casket bearers will be Dusty Davis, Brady Davis, Scotty Davis, Brandon Sibley, Alan Tucker, Coy Tucker, Clayton Tucker, and Jonathon Tucker. Honorary bearers will be Rick Brown, Billy Barbour, Bobby Barbour, Rodney Welch, Duane Welch, and Darren Barbour.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
