Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Elmer "Corkey" Gene Croan, Sr., 83 of Wilson, OK are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Fuller officiating. Interment will follow to Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Corkey was born February 18, 1937 in Wilson to the late Mr. Marcus Bradshaw Croan, Sr. and Mrs. Jesse Edna (Wideman) Croan. He departed from this life on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Marietta.

Corkey was raised in Wilson attending school here. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1954. While in the Navy, he served as a mechanic on the USS Roosevelt. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Corkey resided in Odessa, TX and worked as a diesel mechanic. There he raised his family and lived for 40 years, before returning back to this area at Wilson. Corkey worked as a mechanic in Wilson as Corkey's Shadetree Mechanic Shop. He married the former Ms. Mona Lowery on April 10, 2018 at Wilson. Corkey loved to have coffee everyday with his buddy Frank Carriker. He always enjoyed traveling and having a garden. Corkey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife’s, Vera Strauss, Patsy Smith and Janie Croan; infant brother; daughter, Carmen Croan and three brothers, Howard, Dugan and M.B.

Corkey is survived by his wife, Mona of the home; two sisters, Elizabeth Whatley and Lorene Crabtree; brother, Eddie Croan and wife Della; sons, Elmer G. "Butch" Croan, Jr. and wife Lilli of Austin, TX and Marc Croan and wife Carol of Wilson; daughter, Deborah Pitzer of Hutchinson, KS; 8 grandchildren, Marcus Henry, John William, Brian Keith, James Dugan, Kristen Michelle, Amy, Stephanie and Justin; numerous great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Frank Carriker, Warren Butler, Jeff Whatley, Greg Whatley, Brad Whatley, Dakota Whatley, Jimmy Hamilton and Bradley Heath.
