Elizabeth Ann Slawson

Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann (Jones) Slawson, 82, of Rush Springs are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs. Interment will follow in the Ringling Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Bro. David Hale and James McClure officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Elizabeth was born September 19, 1935 in Ardmore, OK to Mr. Roy Robert Jones and Mrs. Kathryn Louise (Stewart) Jones. She departed this life Friday, November 17, 2017 at her residence in Rush Springs.

Elizabeth and Melburn Edward Slawson were married on April 28, 1951 in Waurika, OK and together they made their home in the Rush Springs area since 1955.

Mrs. Slawson was a member of the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and played the piano. She was a homemaker and could always be found cooking, sewing, or enjoying a game of cards or dominos. She was wonderful wife mother and grandmother and had been a Cub Scout mother. Mrs. Slawson was also a florist and owned Slawson’s Flowers. She received her floral design certificate through Oklahoma State University. Elizabeth had previously worked as a motel manager at the Ranchwood Motel in Marlow. She enjoyed going to Merle Haggard concerts, watching the Dallas Cowboys and the western channel.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Slawson on October 10, 1977; sisters, Wilda Jo Loftin in June 1969 and Roberta Tindall in November 2015.

Survivors include her husband, Melburn E. Slawson of the home; sons and daughters-in-laws, Joe and Mary Slawson of Rush Springs, Jerry and Rhonda Slawson of Cyril; grandchildren, Tracie Greeson, Rachel Hudson, B.J. Slawson, Joseph Slawson, Travis Slawson, Jane’ece Fourkiller, Shawn Slawson, Amanda Scott, and Janee Slawson; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Numerous other family members and a host of friends.

Casket Bearers will be Travis Slawson, Shawn Slawson, Chantry Scott, B.J. Slawson, Shane Hudson, and Caleb Fourkiller.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Tracie Greeson, Jeff Greeson, Joseph Slawson, Catrina Slawson, Jane’ece Fourkiller, Janee Slawson, Rachel Hudson, Ashley Slawson, and Amanda Scott.
