Edith Wonita Roberts

July 14, 1929 — February 4, 2024

Ardmore - Graveside Services for Mrs. Edith Wonita Roberts, 94 of Lone Grove are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Royce McClendon officiating and Rev. David Gardner assisting.  Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. 


Edith was born July 14, 1929 in Elk City, OK to the late Mr. Floyd Joseph Gothard and Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth (English) Gothard.  She departed from this life on Sunday, February 2, 2024 in Ardmore, OK.  


Edith was raised all over moving along with her family from Orr, Ryan, Lone Grove, Oklahoma City, and Ardmore areas, but she was primarily raised in the Lone Grove and Ardmore area attending high school in Oklahoma City.  Edith married Mr. Maxie Woodrow Roberts on September 20, 1946 in Ardmore where together they raised 6 children.  He preceded her in death on August 24, 1992.  Edith was a devoted homemaker before she worked for Joe K Carrol shipping leather, Montogomery Ward, the lake, and she cleaned houses.  Edith enjoyed politics, volunteered for the Lone Grove Senior Citizens giving 273 hours of service to them and she loved that she received 2 awards from the Govenor frequently telling others about the honors she received.  But mainly, Edith was very devoted to her children, helping nurse two of them back to health.  


Preceding her in death was her parents; husband, Maxie; a son, Freddie Roberts and 4 sisters.  


Edith is survived by her children, Maxine Trimble of Ardmore, Galene Southerland and husband Ron of Ardmore, Ron Roberts and wife Freida of Lone Grove, Renae Gillespie and husband David of Ardmore, and Jody Roberts and wife Sandy of Ardmore; 11 grandchildren, Diane Foster, Darlene Stinson, Shannon Mayer and Ronnie Castle, Michelle Crane, Monica DeFries and husband Mark, Angela Roberts, Shaine Roberts and wife Desirea, and Michael Roberts and wife Summer; 26 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, and by a host of other family and friends. 


Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
