Mr. Eddie Lee Bates Sr.

Wilson-Graveside Services for Mr. Eddie Lee Bates, 57, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, November 28, 2008 at Hewitt Cemetery with Rev. Monte Dean officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Eddie was born February 13, 1951 at Wilson, OK to Mr. Paul Riley Bates and Mrs. Una Oleta (Taylor) Bates. He departed this life Monday November 24, 2008 at his residence in Wilson.

Eddie was raised in Wilson and attending school there. He worked in the oilfields most of his working years. Always an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and collect arrowheads and petrified wood. He spent many hours making knives and carving canes. Eddie’s last few years he has worked for many of his friends and relatives doing what he loved, working in the outdoors, which made him the happiest. He had recently been baptized at the Rexroat Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death is Parents and a Son, Eddie Lee Bates Jr.

Survivors include Daughter, Amanda Wright and husband Steve of Healdton, Son Greg Bates and wife Holly of Ardmore, 2 Sisters Margaret Porter of Wilson and Paulette Whitlock of Madill, 2 Brothers Terry Bates of Norman and Scotty Bates of Palestine, TX and 3 Grandchildren Alexis Blodgett, Jacob and Jadyn Wright all of Healdton and numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dale Vernon, E.J. Forsythe, Larry Forsythe, Benny Forsythe, Terry Henry and Thomas Purvis.

Honorary bearers will be Smooth Vernon, Dennis Vernon, David Vernon and Darrell Farrell.

Family visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm Friday prior to the Funeral at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
