A memorial service for Douglas Ray Hudson, 76, of Lone Grove, organized by the family, will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Lone Grove with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Cremation services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Crematory.
Douglas was born September 6, 1947, at Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Mr. Hershel Ray Hudson and Mrs. McZiaen “Maxine” (Albright) Hudson. He departed this life January 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City.
Douglas was raised in Texarkana, AR where he attended school. When he was the young age of 15, he had met the love of his life, Donna Jean Bowman at a swimming pool in Ardmore. Donna was just 14 years old and when Doug walked her home from the swimming pool the day they met, they stopped to visit on the steps of a church in town for a long while. Douglas returned to Texarkana, AR, where he graduated from High School and was drafted into the United States Army shortly after. Around that time, Donna had a brief marriage and was blessed with two children. Douglas had been shot during his time serving and made his way to the Ardmore area to stay with his mother and sister. Douglas was employed for Colvert's Dairy and was friends with Donna’s brother who decided to set the couple up on a blind date. The couple remembered each other from years earlier and began their life together in marriage on July 31, 1971, at the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore. Douglas, without hesitation, adopted Donnas two children, Tina and Don, and they were soon blessed with another daughter, Angelea. He retired from Michelin after 30 years of employment and Douglas was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and shooting. He has many trophies from the competitions he competed in within these outdoor sports. But his greatest accomplishment must have been his 52 years of marriage to his wife Donna.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Hershel and Maxine; grandson, William Rousseau; grandmother, Addie Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home; children, Tina Hudson of Norman, OK, Don Hudson and wife Jennie of Longview, TX, and Angelea Hudson and significant other, Chris Henry of Fittstown, OK; siblings, Sherly Davis and husband Berl of Nebo, OK, Johnny Hudson and wife Sandra of Grandbury, TX, Judy Sperry of Ardmore, and Jaunna Robsion of Nebo, OK; grandchildren, Bethany, Joshua, Jeremy, Norma, Harley, Stephannie, Damien, and Deaven; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
