Ratliff City – Funeral Services for Dorthy Ruth Stephens, 60, of Healdton, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Living Word Tabernacle of Ratliff City with Dr. John C. Johnson and Pastor Eugene Christian officiating. Interment will follow at Velma Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
Dorthy was born November 15, 1949 at Guthrie, OK to the late Mr. Travis Henry Stephens and Mrs. Addie Marie (Christian) Stephens. She departed this life Thursday February 25, 2010 at Oklahoma City.
Dorthy was raised in this area attending school at Fox graduating high school there in 1968. She furthered her education studying History and Government at Southeastern Okla. State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree. She also attended the Okla. University in Norman where she earned her Masters Degree. She was an Airman of the Air National Guard for 10 years with specialty training in the audio-visual field as a photographer and had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years in Oklahoma City, retiring in 2005. After her retirement she moved to back to this area to enjoy her retirement. Dorthy loved traveling especially to Europe and Hawaii and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death is her Father, Travis Henry Stephens, 1985, and Stepfather, Troy O’Dell Norton, 1997 and a stepbrother, J.T. Norton in 2002.
Survivors include her Mother, Marie Norton- Howeth of Healdton, 2 brothers, Henry Norton and wife Tammy of Ringling and Jimmy Norton of Pruitt City. Numerous nieces and nephews whom include, Tony Norton, Jeannie Briscoe, Monique Edwards, Beverly Culbreth, Jimmy Dewayne Norton, Jason Norton and Joe Norton.
Casket Bearers are Jessie Herrell, Robert Herrell, Doug Briscoe, Karl Criswell, Joe Rushing, Clif Christian, Sam Christian, and Ray Christian.
Honorary Bearers will be Gerald Davis and Tino Andropolis.
Family visitation will be from 7-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Ratliff City.
