Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Pauline (Dewbre) Byrd, 91, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2017at the Ringling Cemetery Pavilion at Ringling with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.


Dorothy Pauline (Dewbre) Byrd was born on February 14, 1926 at Healdton, OK to the late Mr. Sylvester “S.V. Dewbre and Mrs. Nora (Warren) Dewbre. She departed this life Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Westbrook Nursing Home in Waurika.


Dorothy was raised south of Ringling attending school at Petersburg. She later moved with her family to California when she was in the 8th grade. Dorothy loved listening to live country music, she loved to read, working crossword puzzles, and watching the Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking so much. Dorothy was known for making the best chocolate you could ever eat, even winning the blue ribbon at the Jefferson Co. fair with her chocolate pies. In 1942 she was married to Mr. O.P. McCabe and to this union came a daughter, Dorothy. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Community Service Center. She was later married to Mr. Loy Lenley Byrd on August 21, 1948 in Gainsville, TX and he preceded her in death.


Also preceding her in death are her parents; two sons, Gerald Clyde Byrd and Donald Ray Byrd; sisters, Joyce Webster, Lorene Haun; brother, Raymond Dewbre; grandson, Marty Doyal; granddaughter, Velvet Byrd and great granddaughter, Sheila Doyal.


Survivors include sons, Jackie S. Byrd and wife Judy of Comanche and Avery D. Byrd of Ringling; daughters, Dorothy Travis of Pauls Valley and Cindy Lewis of Leon; brothers, Micky Dewbre and wife Cathy of Ringling and Doyle “Rusty” Dewbre and wife Gaylene of Healdton; sister, Clara Brown of California; 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, numerous other family and friends.
