Oakland – Graveside Services for Mrs. Dorothy Jo (Sanders) Sparlin, 83 of Ardmore are scheduled for 3:00 PM Wed. March 5, 2014 at the Oakland Cemetery near Madill with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Dorothy was born May 24, 1930 at Boswell to the late Mr. William Bernard Sanders and Mrs. Clara Mae (Rye) Sanders. She departed this life Friday, February 28, 2014 at Ardmore.
Dorothy was raised at Ringling attending school there and later at Fox where she graduated High School. She married Mr. Guy Ladean Sparlin on June of 1956 at Madill. They made their home in Madill before making permanent residence at Ardmore where she still resided. Dot worked at the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore childcare center for 30 years. She enjoyed having breakfast everyday with her best friend Peggy Henson. Since Peggy passed away Dot was not the same and mourned her death terribly. Her husband Guy also her preceded in death in 1991. Dot was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and best Friend Peggy also preceding her in death is her Parents; and Sister Willie Young.
Survivors include Two Daughters, Brenda Wright and husband Warren of Wilson and Linda Fuston and husband Billy of Durant; 2 Sisters, Gracie Klein of Durant and Jerle Glendinning and husband John of Whitesboro; 5 Grandchildren, Amanda Thompson and husband Kent, Katie Buchanan and husband Josh, Victoria Arnold and husband Randall, Valerie Berry and husband Erin and Jessica Peery and husband Justin; 8 Great Grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Honorary Bearers are Joe Howell, Kent Thompson, Justin Peery, Josh Buchanan, Erin Berry, Billy Fuston, Warren Wright and Randall Arnold.
Family visitation will be from 6pm to 8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
