Wilson- Funeral Services for Wilson resident Mr. Donnie Rad Sparks, 74, is scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday October 2, 2008 at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Bro. Raymond Norton officiating and Bob Mercer providing the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson with Military Honors performed by the United States Marine Corps. Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson is in charge of arrangements.
Donnie was born to the late Mr. Leonard and Mrs. Sally Claudine (Purvis) Sparks on November 28, 1933 at Depew, OK. He departed this life Monday September 29, 2008 at his home in Wilson.
Donnie was reared at Depew and Milfay, graduating from Milfay High in 1951. He soon joined the United States Marine Corps on February 27, 1953 in Oklahoma City, joining his two brothers during the Korean Conflict. He served honorably and was discharged February 26, 1956. He married the former Clara Bell Clayton June 18, 1953 at Bristow, OK. They shared 55 wonderful years together.
Donnie was employed all of his working years in the Oil Field. He owned and operated Sparks Logging and Perforating and United Perforator. He and Clara have been residents of the Wilson area for the past 40 years. Some of his favorite leisure’s were fishing, travelling and researching his family genealogy. Donnie was a faithful member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Wilson.
Preceding him in death are his Parents and his brother Mr. Jerry Sparks.
Survivors include his beloved wife Clara of the home, 3 Sons, Roy Don Sparks of Wilson, Mike Sparks of Wilson, and Kevin Sparks of Davis. Sister Sheila Mercer and husband Bob of Depew, Brother, Carl Sparks and wife Joyce of Bristow, Longtime friend, Everett McClain of Norman, Grandchildren, Dylan Sparks, Beau Sparks, Whitney Sparks, Taylor Sparks, Luke Sparks, Jacob Elliott, Trevor Elliott and Lacee Elliott. Numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will Be Mike Steele, Les Hacker, Rick Clayton, Alan Buck, Bobby Price, Jimmy White and Steve Coshow.
Honorary Bearers will be Mark Mercer, Gary Sparks, Steve Clayton, Gene Clayton, Roy Lee Clayton, Jacob Elliott and Trevor Elliott, Jeff Clayton and Everett McClain.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home in Wilson.
