Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Donna Shirlene Powell, 59 of Wilson, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow to Simon Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Donna was born November 24, 1964, in Ardmore, OK to Mr. Nathan R. Powell and Mrs. Shirley Diane (Greenwood) Powell. She departed from this life on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK.
Donna was raised in Wilson, graduating from Wilson High School in 1983. She had worked for Dr. Woods Veterinary for 13 years and was blessed with three children, Laramye, Ty and Mayci. While the kids were young, Donna decided to attend college at Murray State for 2 years, and Southeastern for 6 years, not only obtaining her Bachelor’s degree but her Master’s degree in Business. But, with all that, Donna’s passion was livestock, attending to her own cattle, working, feeding, and vaccinating them. She also loved horses, especially those bucking horses. Donna was a very strong-willed, hardworking cowgirl. She enjoyed her cattle and her horses, being around her family and grandbabies, and loved her animals, especially her dogs.
Preceding her in death was her father, Nathan.
Donna is survived by her children, Laramye Thoroughman, Ty Thoroughman and Mayci Burkhalter; mother, Shirley Powell; brother, Brian Powell; grandchildren, Natalee, Brexli, and Stetli; bonus grandchildren, Rhett, Hudson, and Rhett; and by a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ty Thoroughman, Laramye Thoroughman, Levi Shelby, Brent Pulis, Alex Rich, and Brian Powell. Honorary bearers will be R.D. Powell, Collin Perkins, Frank Schaaf, Jeff Stearns, Matt Burkhalter, and Dillon Skelton.
A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
