Donald Wayne Porter

Wilson – Memorial Services for Donald Wayne Porter, 65, of Wilson is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dale Tarp officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Donald was born June 21, 1946 at Orange, TX to Mr. George William Porter and Mrs. Ila Vera “Jake” (Jennings) Porter. He departed this life Saturday June 25, 2011 at his home in Wilson.

Donald was raised as part of a military family, his Father being in the Navy. They lived all up the east coast and in junior High, Donald moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and later graduated high school in Brookwood. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Sheldon State College in Tuscaloosa. He managed several Pizza Huts, McDonalds and also worked for Coca Cola before becoming employed for Frito Lay. At Frito Lay, Inc Donald was employed for many years and retired as District Manager in 1999.

Donald married the former Ms. Sara Ann Burrows July 30, 1982 at Lufkin, TX. They shared many wonderful years together. Donald loved to play golf and fish and was a proud fan of the University of Alabama. He also loved his two canine buddies Ally and Misty was a member of the Wilson Assembly God Church.

Preceding him in death is her Father, George William Porter; Son, Donald or “Little Don” Wayne Porter, Jr.; and 2 brothers, Phillip and Johnny Porter.

Survivors include his wife Sara Ann of the home; Daughter, Stacy McMahan and husband Lynn of Wilson; His Mother, Ila Vera “Jake” Porter of Huntsville, Alabama; Sister, Linda Lauffer and husband Glenn of Elora, Tennessee; Grandchildren, Lane and Garrett McMahan of Wilson and Jeremy Porter and wife Nikki of Alabama; Two other daughters by a previous marriage named Wendy and Christy whom include 9 other grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Numerous other family and friends.
