Cremation services for Mr. Donald Ray "Red" Stanton, 88, of Wheatland, OK, formerly of Ringling are scheduled with Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory of Ringling. He departed this life on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Oklahoma City.
Red was born on April 22, 1934 at Atlee, right by mudcreek to the late Mr. Henry Grady Stanton and Mrs. Daisy Mae (Templin) Stanton. He lived 1934-1952 in Atlee, Zaneis, Center Point and Ringling area. Went to school at Zaneis, Center Point and Ringling. Did mostly farm work until he entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1952. He served in Korea aboard the USS Fryberger D.E.C. 705, then aboard the Floyd County LST 721 in Alaska and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Then he entered the United States Army in 1957and served in Germany in 1958 - 1960. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He then lived in Oklahoma City, OK and Fort Worth, TX, working mostly as a carpenter framing new houses and apartments. He met Lelia Carol Demaspus in Fort Worth, TX. In 1974 they moved to Wheatland, OK where he still resided. Donald and Carol were married July 29, 1976 in Wheatland, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Derl and Kay Stanton of Blanchard,OK; niece, Carla L. Stanton of Blanchard, OK; step daughter, Nonie Massey of Noble, OK; step grandchildren, Jessie, Josh, Jennie and Jake Singleton; step children, Clay Kemp, Brenda Lackey, Anglie McElyea and Eric McElyea.
Red is preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Doris Stanton; his wife, Carol Stanton; special friend and mother of his daughter, Drucella Muncy; daughter, Frieda Gayle (Kemp) Stanton; brother and sister-in-law, Mitchell and Joan Stanton.
