Ringling - Country Graveside Services for Mr. Donald "Don" Dale Allen, 78, of Ringling are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at the Allen Family Cemetery, west of Ringling with Lindsay Wright and Brian McGahey officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Don was born Dec. 31,1937 at Ringling to Mr. Reece Floyd Allen and Mrs. Hazel Lucille (Stewart) Allen. He passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at Waurika.
Don was a native to this area attending school at Mountain Home. After graduating he married the former Ms. Retha Gayle Faulkner on May 31, 1958 at Ringling. He was thereafter drafted into the United States Army serving honorably in Germany.
Don was always an accomplished Rancher and Horseman. He served this area politically for many years in several capacities including being the Jefferson County Sheriff. He was following his Grandfather's footsteps, Sheriff Bill Allen. As Sheriff, Don never carried a gun and served well as a respected friend to the citizens of Jefferson County. He also initialized the Jefferson County Inmate work center which has benefited the county tremendously.
Don was a man of Vision. He saw the work needed to be done before the project even began. He also owned and operated Don's A1 Corral western apparel in Ringling for 30 years and was a member of the Ringling Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his Parents; brother, Larry Allen and a son, Donald Derek Allen - Sept. 4, 1992.
Survivors include his wife Retha of the home; daughters, Lauren Gandy and husband Jerry and Nikki McGahey and husband Brian, all of Ringling; Sisters, Donna Sue Rich and Freda Folsom, both of Ringling; grandchildren, Ruslyn and husband Cameron, Ravyn, Britann, Kage and Kanyon;numerous other family and a multitude of friends.
Casket bearers will be family.
Honorary bearers will be his horse trading friends.
All visitation and viewing will be held at the home of Don Allen; 28746 E. 1950 Rd. Ringling, OK
