Don Ray Cox

April 20, 1962 — September 8, 2022

Don Ray Cox was born April 20, 1962, at Ardmore to Mr. Vernon Cox and Mrs. Glennev (Prince) Cox. He departed from this life on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 60 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

Don was raised in Gene Autry where he attended school and later graduated from Springer High School with the class of 1980. He went on to further his education at Murray State College graduating with an associate degree in 1982. Don married the love of his life, the former Miss Angela Morgan, on September 9, 1982 in the Bullard Chapel at Tishomingo. The couple resided at Blue River working for the Merrick Ranch. Don and Angela were blessed with 2 children, Ashley and Zachary. Their family moved to Ardmore but later made their permanent home in Springer where they raised cattle and goats. Don was employed by the State of Oklahoma Department of Agriculture as a livestock inspector until he became medically retired in 2001. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting, metal detecting, and hunting for fossils. But more than anything he loved hunting with Zach and making his granddaughters cowgirls by showing her his ways on the farm. Don loved his family but was just crazy about his granddaughters.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Vernon and Glennev; sister, Cheryl Williams; uncle, Joe Cox; father-in-law, Jack Morgan; brother-in-law, Bud Walker; sister-in-law, Jan Olsen Cox; two infant grand babies; and a nephew, Bucky Morgan.

Don is survived by his wife Angela of the home; daughter, Ashley Cox Carranza and husband Eric with their two daughters, Avery and Ruby Rose of Springer; son, Zachary Cox of Springer; mother-in-law, Barbara Morgan of Ardmore; siblings, Raymond Cox of Clyde, TX and Virginia Cox Walker of Healdton; aunts, Jean Cox Roberts of Ardmore, Anna Nell Cox Housley of Yukon, and Irene Cox Royal of Nevada; uncles, Bill Cox of Overbrook and John M Prince of California; nieces, Crystal Cox, Edith Summy, Carrie Taylor, Candice Stewart, Melanie Wickware, Jonna Land, Kati Morgan, and Stefani Holland; nephews, Logan Williams, Casey Morgan, and Derek Morgan; numerous other family and friends.

There will be no services as per Don's request.
