Ringling- Funeral Services for Mr. Don Osteen Moore, 71, of Ringling, Ok. are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Don Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling. Funeral Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling, Ok.
Don was born July 2, 1940 at Waurika, Ok. to the late Mr. O.L. Moore and Helen Estelle (Kerley) Moore. He departed this life on August 19, 2011 at his residence North of Ringling.
Don grew up at Mountain Home where he attended Mountain Home Schools until they moved to Duncan where he graduated from Duncan High School in 1959. Don served his Country in the United State Air Force as a Sergeant in 806th Medical Group (SAC) at Chennault AFB, La. until 1965. He and the former Cynthia Dianne Spurgeon were united in marriage on Dec. 26, 1976 at Mineral Wells, TX and have been married for 35 years at the time of his death. Don was employed by General Motors Corp. of Arlington, TX where for two years he drove back and forth from Ringling to Arlington, TX so that his children could live and attend Ringling Public Schools. He retired from General Motors Corp of Arlington, TX after 28 years of Service and eventually retired to his ranch North of Ringling. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith.
Don was preceded by his Father Mr. O.L. Moore; Step-Father Bill Chestnut; a Son Don Osteen Moore, Jr.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dianne Moore of the home; Daughter Donna Merkt and husband Frank of Norman, OK.; Sons John Moore and wife Dr. Carolynn Moore of McKinney, TX and Bradley Moore of Okla. City, OK ; Mother Mrs. Estelle Chestnut of Duncan, OK; Brother Rev. Jerry Moore of Duncan; Step-brother Doug Chestnut of Midland, TX; and Grandchildren Erick Don LeMaster and Isaiah Samuel Moore.
Serving as Pallbearers are Justin Kerley, Walter Kerley, Terry Kerley, Harrison Moore, Dwayne Humphries, and Willy Allen
Honorary Bearers are Jimmy Kerley, Hollis Kerley, Johnny Kerley, Freddie Kerley, Jackie Kerley, Rick Kerley, Joe Allen, Billy Kerley, Frankie Kerley, Bud Weems, Ace Humphries and Heath Longest.
Family visitation will be Sunday evening, Aug. 21, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
