Wilson –Funeral Services for Mr. Don James Loveless, 88, are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wed. June 16, 2010 at the East Lincoln Street Church of Christ of Healdton with Gary Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Bomar Pt. Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
Don was born on August 26, 1921 in Dougherty, OK to Walter Loveless and Hester (Gibson) Loveless. He passed away on June 13, 2010. Serving God was a priority in Don’s life and he was an active member of the East Lincoln Street Church of Christ in Healdton, OK.
Don was raised and attended school in Dougherty graduating in 1940. Later he moved to the Wilson area. Shortly after making Wilson his home he was drafted in 1942 to serve his country in the United States Army during the Second World War. He served in North Africa and Europe. Upon returning home to Wilson, he married Rosalee Copeland on November 3, 1945. For the last 56 years they have made Wilson their home. In 1951 Don graduated from East Central University in Ada OK. He taught school 24 years sharing his passion for science. He retired from the Ringling School System in 1986. During those 24 years he also spent 13 years working for McCullough Tool Company of Healdton. Mr. Loveless, as many knew him, was noted for his wit and sense of humor. Everyone recognized him in his blue 76 Chevy with a Christmas wreath on the front.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hester Loveless, one brother, Carl Loveless, one sister Betty Jean (Loveless) Long. He is survived by his wife of the home, Rosa Loveless, two daughters, Patricia Curtis and her husband Bill of Moore, OK; and Donna Renfro and her husband Bill of Ringling, OK. Sister, Bernice Smith of Healdton. Four grandchildren, Melissa Bonds and her husband David of Broken Arrow, OK; Scott Renfro and his wife Amy of Ringling, OK. Jennifer Smith and her husband Jason of Fort Worth, TX, and Susan Lyle and her husband Brandon of Ringling, OK. He is also the great-grandfather of Hanna Hall and Isabella Renfro; Camden, Ethan, Seth, and Derek Smith; and Braden and Chloe Lyle.
Pallbearers are David Cormany, Roger Wilson, Meryl Hodges, Skeet Chapman, John Clinesmith, Dale Powell, and Carey Powell.
Honorary Bearers are the Members of the East Lincoln Street Church of Christ and Co workers of the Ringling Public School Faculty.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
