Don Carol Grant
Ringling – Funeral services for Mr. Don Carol Grant, 78, of Garland TX will be at 2pm Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Courtney United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Orr Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
Don Carol Grant was born June 10, 1931 in Petersburg, OK to the late Mr. Robert Lee Grant and Mrs. Naomi (Calvery) Grant. He departed this life Monday, March 1, 2010 in Dallas, TX.
Don was born and raised in the Petersburg area attending school at Petersburg and Courtney. He was drafted into the United States Army at Waurika, OK and served honorably for 2 years. His tour of duty was mostly served in France. After the military he went to work for the Defense Plant in Fort Worth and Garland TX and California. He was later employed by the Jimmy Dean Meat Company. He began with the company when it first started in Plainview, TX and he moved with the company to Dallas at the corporate office. Don and the former Mary Lou Luster were married November 13, 1999 in Dallas, TX.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, Mary Pruitt, 5 brothers, Hailey Grant, Vernon Grant, Doise Grant, Bill Grant and Marvin Grant.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Grant of the home, sister Selma Faye Edwards of Oakland, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Harvey Grant, Cotton Grant, Hack Grant, Darrell Grant, W.A. Grant, Greg Grant, Robert Gilio and Kenny Dewbre.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
