D.J. Nell

Ringling - Private Memorial Services are being scheduled for longtime Ringling resident, Mr. D. J. Nell, 74, who passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at his home west of Ringling. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Alexander~Gray Crematory of Ringling. D.J. was born on November 16, 1940 at Ringling to the late Mr. Sherman Orville Nell and Mrs. Thelma Lou (Lyle) Nell.

D.J. was raised south of Ringling attending school at Mountain Home. He joined the United States Army Reserves and served honorably in the Artillery Division for 2 years. He and the former Patricia Ann Freeman were united in marriage on August 4, 1961 at Tishomingo. They initially made their home in Wichita Falls, TX, moving back to Ringling in 1973.

D.J. was proud to be self employed most all of his working years as a rancher and carpenter. Pat preceded him in death on July 8, 2007. D.J. later married the former Sharon Thompson Mercer on August 21, 2009 at his home in Ringling. D.J. always took pleasure in sitting on his porch drinking his coffee and always enjoyed gardening and ranching.

In addition to his wife Pat, also preceding him in death were his Parents; 1 infant brother Orville Ray Nell; brother, Lewis Nell; sister, Louise Scribner and step grandson Davin Mercer.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home; Daughters, Karla Renee Nell of Higdon, AL, Tammy Jaye Nell of Ringling and Shannon Kaye Nell Bonds and husband Bill of Parker, CO; grandchildren, Jade Newton and husband Michael, Wyli Ward and husband Ronnie, Dylan, Ellison and Rebecca Bonds; great grandchildren, Quincy and Luke Newton and Ryder and Case Ward; Sharon's children, Jamie Mercer and wife Misty, Kelly Perkins and husband Kelly and Johna Cox and husband Shane, all of Ringling; Sharon's Grandchildren, Macey Glenn and husband Josh, Sydney Mercer, Marina Sanders and husband Boomer, Zoe Mercer, Johnny Joe Mercer, Kolt , Kassidy and Kyler Perkins, and Halston and Karagan Cox; Sharon's great grandchildren, Aleeya, Elias, Darcy and Kavasa; brothers, Don Nell and wife Barbara of Wichita Falls, TX and Jerry Nell and wife Nancy of Nacona, TX; sister, Teresa Nell of Wichita Falls, TX; numerous other family and a multitude of friends.
