Dennis Ray Sloan

October 30, 1941 — July 7, 2008

Mr. Dennis Ray Sloan was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Burneyville to Roy Leverne and Ethel Beatrice Jackson Sloan. He departed this life Monday, July 7, 2008, in Healdton at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 7 days.

He grew up in Burneyville, graduated from Turner High School in 1959 and attended Murray State College for two years. He married the former Kay Wright, on July 27, 1963, in Pruitt City. He was employed by Kirkpatrick Supply for almost 20 years before beginning his own roustabout service, later becoming a contract Pumper for several companies. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and any outdoor activity. He loved his grandchildren and was known as Papa by them.

Preceding him in death is his parents and one brother, Don Sloan.

Survivors include his wife Kay of the home; a son, Dennis Sloan Jr. and his wife, Linda, Velma; two daughters, Terri Wallace of Collinsville, and Tammi Sloan of Ardmore; a brother, Dale Sloan of Morrison, OK, two sisters, Linda Kerley and Delpha Ward, both of Mansfield, Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends of the family.
