Dearl Thurman Taylor

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Dearl Thurman Taylor, 88, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Chaplain Matthew Benedick and Brother Waylon Dancer officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Mr. Dearl Taylor was born April 27, 1927 in a tent at Archer City, TX to the late Mr. Benjamin Franklin Taylor and Mrs. Eva Virgie (Mitchell) Taylor. He departed this life Thursday, March 17, 2016 at his home in Wilson.

Dearl was raised in the community of Deese attending school there and graduating high school at Springer in 1947. He married the former Doris Laverne Glenn on Dec. 29, 1950, and to this union they were blessed with 4 daughters, Sharon, Elaine, Debbie, Laurie and a son Trent. Shortly after he married Doris, Dearl joined the United States Army and served honorably during the Korean War as infantryman in Germany. He was honorably discharged on October 3, 1956 and returned to this area where he worked all of his working years in the Oilfield.

Dearl worked for Sutherland Oilfield Service as a workover Rig Operator for 30 years and then for Holden Energy for 10 years, before retiring at the age of 62. Dearl was preceded in death by his wife Doris on March 29, 1979. Later in life he married the former Betty Taylor - Forsythe on Dec. 27, 1982 and he was blessed with 3 more children, Connie Ronnie and Kenny. Dearl and Betty spent many wonderful years of marriage together residing in Wilson. Dearl enjoyed his retirement by spending time in his garden and doing crafts in his work shop. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Dearl was saved in a brush harbor at a very early age south of town.

In addition to his wife Doris, he was also preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sharon; sister, Marie Taylor; granddaughter, Erica Rawley and grandson, Ariel.

Survivors include his loving wife Betty of the home; children, Elaine Johnson and husband Keith of Farmington, AR, Debbie Shores and husband Kenny of Poolville, Trent Taylor and wife Merry, Laurie Taylor and husband Roger, Connie Forsythe all of Wilson, Ronnie Forsythe and wife Ann of Sanger, TX and Ken Forsythe and wife Jane of Lebanon, TN; 11 grandchildren, Angie, Crystal, Brent, Stacie, Trey, Lynzi, Karisa, Jason, Jeremiah, Samantha and Aaron; 8 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers are Brent Johnson, Jordan Norkett, Trey Taylor, Clyde Smoot, Steve Smoot and Justin Johnson.

Honorary Bearers A.C. Overby, Floyd Runnels, Dowell Mitchell, Marshall Mitchell and Larry Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice for all their kindfelt care and continued support.
