David M. Young

August 6, 1934 — December 14, 2010

Wilson – Memorial Services for Mr. David M. Young, 76, of Ardmore are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Leo Potts officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed and military honors will also be performed by the Ft. Sill Casualty team.

Mr. Young was born August 6, 1934 in Brown, OK to the late Mr. David Hampton Young and Mrs. Mary Bell (Bamburg) Young. He departed this life Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at his residence in Ardmore.

Mr. Young grew up in the Tishomingo area attending school there and at Cobb. He voluntarily joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War, March 11, 1964 and served two tours. He was injured in war ending his military career and was honorably discharged March 2, 1967. Following his military duty, Mr. Young returned to the states and was employed for General Dynamics and later became employed for Uniroyal Tire Mfg.

Some of his greatest achievements were through his dedication to many associations, volunteering his time. He was a life member and the Past Master of the Healdton Masonic Lodge #23, the past master of the Hewitt Lodge #89, and a life member and Worthy Patron of the Lone Grove Lodge. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 70, Mattie Bruce Order of the Eastern Star #440; Past District Deputy of the Order of the Rainbow Girls, chairman of the local advisory board, and member of the VFW #4574. He was very active in the Amaranth as a Grand Officer, Deputy Grand Rule Patron, and was the Grand Representative to Ontario, Canada. He was also very active in the Shriners, Oddfellows and the McAlister Scottish Rites.

Preceding him in death are his parents, 4 sisters, Erma Lee Bridgeman, LaVerne Seals, Frances Morrison and Juanita Kale, 2 brothers, Perney Lamb and Albert Harrold Young.

Survivors include his Daughter, Mary Ann Shumard of Ada, Grandchildren, Justin, Dustin and Kerri. Brother, Gerald “Bud” Young and wife Louise of Wilson. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Honorary Bearers are his fellow members of the Masons, the Order of the Eastern Star and Amaranth.

A special thanks to the Faith Hospice Nurses and Staff for their kind felt care and support.
