David Lynn Wright

October 7, 1972 — September 12, 2023

Services for David Lynn Wright, 50, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Velma Baptist Church with Rev. Kerry Glasgow officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson and Crematory.

David was born October 7, 1972, at Duncan to Mr. Gary Dwayne Wright and Mrs. Linda Kay Wright. He departed this life Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Lone Grove.

David was raised in Velma where he attended school, participating in track and field, running long-distance relays, and playing football. He was known for being the hardest hitting guy on the football field, gaining the nickname, “Mad Dog”. David graduated from Velma-Alma Schools with the class of 1990. David and his two brothers were known around town as “the Wright boys”. Their family spent a lot of time at Lake Texoma where David loved camping, skiing, and fishing. On January 26, 1997, he married the love of his life, the former Ms. Jennifer Shields at Oklahoma City. During that time David was employed as a produce manager for Snyders Grocery until 1998 when he went to work at Michelin. He worked alongside of his brothers at Michelin for 9 years and “the Wright boys” made the decision to begin their own business in construction, remodeling and building homes.  David enjoyed working with his brother Dennis, in Ardmore, doing demo work and most recently with his brother Ronnie, in Velma. In his spare time, he loved playing games with his granddaughters, spending time with his family and all his girls, watching movies, watching football and storm chasing. He was so loving and compassionate, he loved big, but also had a witty sense of humor.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Louis and Maxine Landram and Lillie Dean and Macklin Wright; father-in-law, Sammy Shumaker; grand father-in-law, Levi Dan Rhoades; sister-in-law, Patsy Wright.
