Curtis Lee Shores

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Curtis Lee Shores, 96 of Wilson is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday March 6, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Monte Dean and son in law , Dr. Tom Bledsoe officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson.

Curtis was born October 3, 1915 at Rexroat, OK to the late Mr. William B. “Bill” Shores and Mrs. Evie (Nichols) Shores. He departed this life Sunday, March 4, 2012 at his home in Wilson.

Curtis was raised as one of two boys and two girls. The other 3 were Opal Belle who passed away July 27, 1924, Maurine V. who passed away October 22, 1922 and Floyd Walter Shores. They lived in a tent at Dillard when the Oil Boom was on there and Curtis attended school at Blue Ribbon. Later they moved to Ratliff City where he had to walk one and one-half miles each way to school. They later moved to Wilson where Curtis met and married the former Ms. Pauline Martin on March 25, 1934 after 6 months of courting.

He and Pauline lived in Wilson for awhile until following Oilfield work to New Mexico and Texas. In 1954 they moved to New Orleans for 12 years and in 1966 moved back to Wilson. Pauline preceded him in death on August 27, 1997. He later married the former Dorothy Taylor January 1, 2002 at Wilson.

In addition to Pauline and his siblings, also preceding him in death are his Parents and a Daughter, Barbara Ann Shores – October 7, 1936.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Thomas Taylor Shores of the home; Daughter, Donna Lee Bledsoe and husband Tom of Augusta, GA; Son, Ronald Frank Shores of Wilson, Step Sons, Jackie and wife Brenda, Roger and wife Laurie, Ronald and wife Mindy, and Gary and wife Pennye; Step Daughter, Janet Asbury of Wilson; 7 Grandchildren; 13 Step grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 9 Step Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike Shores, Mark Shores, Jonathan Bledsoe, Steve Shores, Tom Bledsoe, Jr., David Hull, Daniel Hull, Cody Shores, Chase Shores, Wayland Shores and Zane Shores.

Honorary Bearers are Dave Shores and Jack Shores.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
