Wilson- Services for Mr. Craig Stephen Smith, 55, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Cornish Primitive Baptist Church in Wilson with Elder Mark Wattenbarger officiating. Interment will follow at Simon Cemetery, south of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Craig Stephen Smith was born on January 28, 1960 at Ardmore to Mr. Jarvis Aaron Smith and Mrs Barbara Rhea McDaniel Smith. He departed this life Wednesday morning September 16, 2015 at Healdton.
Craig was raised south of Wilson attending school there. He enjoyed playing football, where he was an excellent quarterback. After graduating from Wilson High School in 1978, he attended Murray State College in Tishomingo studying Agriculture. Thereafter, Craig returned to this area and worked most of his working career as an independent truck driver. He also farmed and ranched. Craig lived in Wilson all of his life. He was a storyteller and loved his children deeply.
Preceding him in death were his father, Jarvis Smith; grandparents, Reese and Hattie Smith along with Carl and Norva Jean McDaniel.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Tolbert and husband Jim Bill, Sr. of Wilson; son, Clayton Smith and wife Ashley of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Cristen Tucker and husband Cody of Mineola, TX; grandson, Hudson Smith; step-sister, Jennifer Ruth of Fox; brother, Jim Bill Tolbert, Jr. of Healdton; cousins who were like siblings, David Hull, Desiree Shores, Dierk Smith, Debbie Henderson, and Ricky Golden; numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jay Goode, Hoss Snow, Mark Shores, Jack Ferguson, Bobby Hodge, and Buddy Withers.
Honorary bearers are, Butch Adams, Dan Hartman, Donald Ray Hartman, and the late James Goode.
Family visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
