Cpl. Elzie James Cain

Wilson - A celebration of the life of CPL. Elzie James Cain will be Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the J. Wesley Hull High School Gymnasium with Gary Scott Labeth and Nubbin McClennahan. Interment will be at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson with Military Funeral Honors performed by the United States Army National Guard. Services are under the direction of the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Derek Smith, Kyle Sullivan, Mark Glen, Dusty Ragland, Jessie Buck, Joey Buck, Jordan Buck and Landon Dye will serve as Pallbearers.

Elzie was born January 2, 1985 in Ardmore, OK to Dalton Lee and Lori Jean (Wigington) Cain. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Survivors include his son, Weston Lee Cain; Jessica Brown the love of his life and mother of his child, both of Ardmore; his parents, Dalton and Lori Cain; sisters; Kandice Cain and Heather Cain and her children, Michel and Justin, all of Wilson; grandfather, James Wigington of Durant; aunt and uncle Bobby and Shelley Way, who considered Elzie their grandson; buddies, Derek Smith and Kyle Sullivan, and a host of family and friends.

Elzie was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Melva Jean Wigington, paternal grandparents, Elzie Lee and Roberta Cain and his childhood buddy, Josh Collett.

Elzie was a 2004 graduate of Wilson High School where he excelled in football and basketball. He loved the outdoors and one of his favorite pastimes was deer hunting.

Always a hard worker, Elzie’s first job was with Jackpot Bingo in Lone Grove. After graduating High School he was employed by L.E. Jones Oil Co. Since January of this year he was an Officer with the Ardmore Police Department.

Elzie was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard and in 2007 was deployed to Iraq where he served with honor and courage. While in Iraq he was awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal, Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal W/M Device, and the Air Assault Badge.

The proudest moment of Elzie’s life was on September 9, 2009 when his son, Weston, was born. He spent many hours taking care of Weston and playing with him. He was a very family oriented young man who never left without flashing a smile and telling everyone that he loved them. A very special person, Elzie loved life and lived everyday to it’s fullest. His kind heart and contagious smile touched many lives. His memory will be cherished and he will live in our hearts forever.

Familiy visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home at Wilson.
