Connie Dianne King

October 19, 1952 — February 22, 2016

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Connie Dianne (Vernon) King, 63, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Bro. Brian Baker and Bro. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Vernon Family Cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Connie was born October 19, 1952 at Overbrook to the late Mr. Melvin Eugene "Smooth" Vernon and Mrs. Meady Mae (Nipp) Vernon. She departed this life Monday evening, February 22, 2016 at her home in Wilson.

Connie was raised at Simon attending school at Turner. She graduated high school in 1970. Soon after, she married Mr. Clifford Eugene King on Sept. 11, 1970 at Gainesville, TX. They made their home in Wilson and were soon blessed with three children, Brandi, Bradley and Bridgit.

Connie waited tables , owned and operated the "Flowers In the Attic" floral shop of Lone Grove, sewed for the public, but was most well known for being a hairstylist and her storytelling. Connie always had a deep devotion and commitment to Lord Jesus, often praying and anointing people and always ministering with her talent of Gospel music.

Connie enjoyed attending many flea markets and sales, looking for antiques and projects for her house. She loved to decorate and remodel her home. She loved having family get together s, always cooking a delicious feast for her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. All of her life she was a member of the little Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church of Wilson and was also a member of the River of Life Pentecostal Church of Wilson.

Preceding her in death are her Parents; son, Bradley Con King, August 10, 2014; special nephews, Chris Hayes and Cody Ponder; and Grandparents, Con and Pearl Nipp and Brad and Cleo Vernon.


Survivors include her husband Clifford of the Home; daughters, Brandi Breshears and husband Aaron of Wilson and Bridgit Vaughn and husband Jason of Ardmore; grandchildren, Gage, Cord and Sadi Breshears, Harli, Gatlin and McKinli King, Bayler Vaughn, Chandler Lemons and wife Katelyn; Great Granddaughters, Lydia and Dallas Lemons; Siblings, David Vernon and wife Lois, Dale Vernon, all of Wilson, Debbie Hayes and husband James of Ardmore, Danell Bray and husband Danny, Dennis Vernon and wife Kathryn of Wilson, Denise Vernon of Ardmore and Dean Vernon of Wilson; special friends, Janet Marr and Cathy May; numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses , great nieces, nephews and a great great niece and nephew.

Casket Bearers are sons in law, Aaron Breshears and Jason Vaughn, Grandsons, Chandler Lemons, Gage Breshears, Cord Breshears and Gatlin King.

Honorary Bearers are her brothers, David, Dale, Dennis and Dean Vernon, and brothers in law, James Hayes and Danny Bray, nephews, Danial and Lee Vernon, Nick and Lucas Hayes, Corey Ponder, Mike Vernon and longtime friend Carl May.

The family request that those attending services , DO NOT WEAR BLACK ATTIRE.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
